Poesis

USA

The designers team of Pilar Proffitt and Robert Bristow earned their Master of Architecture degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Having apprenticed with architects Paul Rudolph, Peter Forbes, Aldo Rossi, and Machado-Silvetti, as well as numerous cabinetmakers, the pair began their own furniture and architectural design laboratory based in Norfolk, Connecticut in 1999, with the desire to produce work that has its own palpable presence. They named their enterprise "Poesis" from the ancient Greek root of our word poetry meaning "to make". Their cooperation with e15 began in 2002 and in January 2003 they presented their first product, the CD shelf CD01.
